Preparing for playtesting

Netstorm Next

The pieces stay put. The battle keeps moving.

Updated October 25, 2026

Netstorm Next is a real-time strategy game with stationary pieces. Where you build matters: placement and firing lines shape the battle as it unfolds.

The inspiration is Netstorm: Islands at War, with a new setting, new units, and no bridge-building. This is a new project, and the name is still a working title.

What to expect

  • Real-time battles built around stationary units
  • Tactical placement and fixed firing lines
  • A new setting and unit roster
  • Multiplayer strategy built around deciding where the next piece belongs

Current state

The game is almost ready for its first round of outside playtesting. The next step is to put it in players’ hands and see how the rules, controls, and battles hold up.

Playtesting

A downloadable playtest build is being prepared. This page will carry the download and instructions when it is ready.

Interested in trying it? Get in touch. Feedback on what feels satisfying, confusing, or unbalanced will be especially useful.
